Another great versatile yarn that I love to use is the Red Heart Super Saver. It is a great yarn to use for any type of project. Such as scarves, blankets, and hats. The Red Heart Super Saver has so many colors to choose from that it is a great yarn to use for a variety of projects.
Colorway
The Red Heart Super Saver has 149 different colorways! It’s amazing on how many colors are available with this one type of yarn. You can check out all of the colorways on their website here. From the picture at the top of this post, these are only 3 colors that I own. I have more but I just can’t fit them all in one photo. Lol
This yarn is available in solid, prints and multis, flecks and heathers, and striped colors. It doesn’t have a dye lot number so you don’t have to pay extra attention when buying the same color of this yarn. There will not be any deviation of color.
Yarn weight and length
The solid colors weigh 7 ounces (198 grams) and approximately 364 yards (333 meters) in length. The striped colors weigh 5 ounces (141 grams) and approximately 236 yards (215 meters) in length.
The prints and multis colors weigh 5 ounces (141 grams) and approximately 236 yards (215 meters) in length. The flecks and heathers colors weigh 5 ounces (141 grams) and approximately 260 yards (238 meters) in length.
It is a medium weight yarn. The yardage in one skein can make one skein projects possible which I’m thinking of creating patterns and take advantage of the variety of colorways it has to offer. Let me know what you think!
Gauge
If you are knitting, it is recommended to use the U.S. 8/5mm knitting needles. You would have 17 stitches by 23 rows in a 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) gauge.
If you are crocheting, it is recommended to use the I/5.5mm crochet hook. You would have 12 single crochet by 15 rows in a 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) gauge.
Fiber
The Red Heart Super Saver is 100% acrylic in the solid, stripes, and prints and multi colorways. The flecks and heathers colorway is 96% acrylic and 4% other fibers.
Care Instructions
Besides the abundance of colorways to choose from for your projects, another great reason to use this yarn is that it is machine washable and dry! Red Heart suggests that projects using this yarn is machine washed in warm water and tumble dry. But, that no bleach should be used and not to iron your projects. Another option is that you can have your projects dry cleaned.
Lately, I’ve been using this yarn for a continuous project that I’ve been working on which I’ll be posting next week to fill you in.
Have you used the Red Heart Super Saver before? Are there any particular colorways that you like? If you haven’t, is this a yarn that you’re thinking about using?
